President's Column Becomes Intern's Corner this Month

The BBB has terrific employees each of who are committed to fostering ethics and honesty in the marketplace.  It is uplifting to be a part of such a great team.  

We are fortunate to have, for the second year, a stellar intern from Drake University, Rachel Manuel. Rachel was raised in Iowa City and is a senior majoring in Law, Politics, and Society and Public Relations. Rachel is a member of Alpha Phi sorority. This spring she was honored at Drake, receiving top junior at the Leaders and Luminaries Ceremony. The award goes to students that have made an extraordinary impact in the Drake and Des Moines community. Rachel is very active and instrumental in The 10,000 Hours Show, an organization focused on engaging young people in volunteer service.

We've asked Rachel to help in projects that run the gamut, from helping pick out new paint color for the office to rolling out the launch of our branding update. Rachel wrote the following about her position at the BBB.

My experience this past summer at the BBB has been enjoyable. This internship keeps me busy with numerous tasks expanding my knowledge and skills, especially in situations where time is everything.

The most exciting part of my internship is assisting with investigations on scam businesses and helping report the information to media in our servicing area. It is great to know we are able to help consumers and businesses alike keep their money and trust with good and honest businesses.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of my internship at the BBB has been working with the friendly and encouraging staff. I truly appreciate their willingness to assist me when I have questions and provide support in my activities outside of the office.

I appreciate having this opportunity to not only put in action what I have learned in the classroom, but also to work with a great organization.
The 3,200 members of our BBB are proudly served by our professional team. Rachel has been an exciting and integral part of our services this past year. Please join me in thanking Rachel for her commitment and hard work.
